Pause/stop streaming when a zone or group is muted

When I mute all players in a group (often that's just a single player), the music should be paused (for a playlist) or stopped (for radio). This could happen immediately upon muting or after a brief delay (few minutes) to avoid resynchronisation issues for a brief mute.

This would address my biggest day-to-day annoyance with my Sonos system: when I'm about the leave the house and want to switch off the music I first need to locate a controller (iPhone, iPod), unlock it, start the Sonos app and press pause/stop. It would be so much easier to simply press 'mute' on my way out.

In the current implementation, muting the system for prolonged periods of time is simply a waste of resources (energy and bandwidth, both locally and for the music service).

This request is a reformulation of the older, forum-based request http://forums.sonos.com/showthread.ph...

Hi everyone,

This topic is now marked as Planned. This change in mute button functionality will be included in a future Sonos software update.

Thank you for your support!

Hello everyone,

Sonos software version 4.2 is now available.  In this new feature, the mute button functionality has been replaced with a full play / pause.  Pressing the mute button on any existing player will pause or resume streaming.

Note that the PLAY:1 has a play / pause button in place of mute but that functionality is similar on all players.
